The Regional Development Association Römerland Carnuntum is the first region in Austria to offer its member municipalities a climate course. The programme was implemented by the Academy for Climate Action.
‘The climate course organised by Römerland Carnuntum was more than just knowledge – it was inspiration, networking and joint action. Thank you for the precious time with great people! Now it’s time to actively shape the future!’ This is how Daniela Resch, one of the participants, puts it in a nutshell.
Pioneering climate action by municipalities
Inspiration, networking and joint action are the results of the climate course in the Römerland Carnuntum region. Considering the broad composition of the group, this was not a given. But the combination of regional business and politics proved to be a power duo that kept the focus on relevant and practical approaches.
Not only did the participants from Bruck an der Leitha and the surrounding area gain valuable knowledge and practical solutions, but they also gained a deep understanding of the importance of climate protection at the local level.
Based on a cooperation between the Academy for Climate Action and the regional development association Römerland Carnuntum and its socially innovative company RLCircular, the seven modules ran from October 2024 to February 2025 with the support of the federal and regional governments and the European Union.
Making an impact as a ‘Wirk’
The term ‘Wirk’, coined by Maja Göpel, describes the ability to use knowledge and inspiration to implement and actively shape change. The graduates of the course go back to their communities with a wealth of materials and ideas, ready to initiate sustainable change themselves.
Congratulations to all the graduates and Academy for Climate Action looks forward to supporting other committed communities on their journey to greater sustainability in the future.
